RE
Vision
At Broad Oak, we believe that learning about religious and non-religious world views is essential if our children are to be well prepared for life in our ever-increasing diverse world. Our children need to learn how to make sense of the world that we live in, so that they can respect religious and cultural differences, as well as develop skills such as compassion, understanding and tolerance.
Intent
Throughout Key Stage 1 and 2, we follow the Lancashire Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education 2021 in line with most St Helens schools. This syllabus allows children to build up their knowledge about the wider world around them, as well as helps them to answer and pose questions about the main religions practiced around the world. These include: Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism and Buddhism.
We enhance our curriculum offer with visits and visitors and have well established links with the local Church community.

What our pupils say about RE
I like RE because I enjoy learning about certain religions and who they worship. I think that it is important to know about differences in society. RE is fun because we get to do lots of different activities, like drawing.
