The Kings Coronation

On Friday 6th May, we celebrated King Charles' III coronation by hosting a whole school assembly to introduce the coronation and inform the children about what their learning would consist of during their history lessons.

Each year group participated in various activities and lessons throughout the day to celebrate the occasion.

These included:

Nursery - Introduction to King Charles.  

Reception - Create a fact file about King Charles and his role (written/verbal video or both).  H3 I can talk about the lives of people around them and their roles in society.  

Year 1 - Re-enact the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II (written/verbal video or both). H8 I can describe a significant historical event. 

Year 2 - Create a fact file about the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. H6: I can describe a key event beyond living memory that is significant nationally or globally.  

Year 3 - To research similarities and differences between two British Monarch Coronations. H1. I can describe things from the past using dates when things happened. 

Year 4 - To research similarities and differences between two British Monarch Coronations. H1. I can research two versions of an event and explain how they differ.  

Year 5 - To research similarities and differences between two British Monarch Coronations. H1. I can draw a timeline with different historical periods showing key historical events or lives of significant people.  

Year 6 - To research similarities and differences between two British Monarch Coronations. H1. I can draw a timeline with different historical periods showing key historical events or lives of significant people.
