English

LO: To gather interesting facts about Africa.

Today you are going to find lots of information and facts that you can use for your planning sheet. You can use the resources attached or google some of your own.

Task: Find at least 3 facts for each of your subtitles and write them under your subtitle on your planning sheet.

Maths

LO: To subtract two 2-digit numbers bridging the 10 practically.

Today we are taking away but the calculations will need us to exchange a ten. Look at the video above to see how to do it.

Step 1: Get the bigger amount in base 10.

Step 2: Have a look at the ones amounts. If the ones amount you are taking away is bigger than the ones you have, you need to exchange. Exchange means swap. We need to exchange a stick of 10 for 10 ones.

Step 3: Now you will be able to take away the amount of ones and the amount of tens. What do you have left? Count the tens and write that number then count the ones and write that number. That’s the answer!

Art

LC: How do I create lighter and darker tints?

This week we are going to be mixing paint in school. If you don't have any at home, don't worry you can still paint on this website Taint Paint or you can download free apps such as drawing pad, where you can select different tints and shades to be able to create something similiar.

Watch this video of how to create the tints and shades if you are using paint.

Once we've practised a tint and shade ladder, we are going to create a picture. Watch this video to see how.

Send your finished creations to broadoakyear2@sthelens.org.uk
