Y4 Home Learning Tasks 20.05.20

Good morning super stars! I hope that you've had the most wonderful start to your week.

Below are your home learning tasks for today, I hope that you have fun completing them!

Maths

This week your maths activities will focus upon telling the time. We will begin by looking at reading a 12 hour clock and looking at o’clock, half past and quarter to/past times, before moving onto reading the time in 5 minute intervals. We will then look at how to convert between 12 hour clocks and 24 hour clocks/analogue and digital clocks.

Today we are going to look at converting time between 12 and 24 hour clocks e.g. 6pm = 18:00 / 8am = 08:00. Work your way through the two explanatory PowerPoints and then have a go at converting the time from a 12 hour clock to a 24 hour clock on the two worksheets.

English

Now we have read Chapter one we know that Thomas has left his newly discovered dragon fruit in his bedroom, but what I wonder has happened to it since he did? Can you make a prediction before you read on? Tell an adult or write it down to see if you’re right.

Ok so now you’ve made your prediction lets read on to see.

So strange things are happening with his dragon fruit.

1 – it is beginning to glow even though it’s not still attached to the tree.

2 – it’s growing bigger.

3 – it’s moved across his room.

Think about your dragon fruit sitting in your bedroom unattended with no one to watch it. Can you think of three strange things that are happening to your fruit? Is it changing colour? Is its appearance changing? What else?

Your task today is to create a short comic strip to show the 3 strange things that are happening to your dragon fruit. Use the comic strip or draw your own in your book – just divide the page in two down the middle and put pictures on one side and writing on the other. You need a picture for each strange thing and a sentence or two for each to explain what is happening.

Not only does she give you a full list of all of the equipment/ingedients that you'll need for each experiment and step-by-step instructions on how to complete the experiment, she explains the science behind the experiment! This is an absolutely brilliant page for all of our science whizzes in Y4!
