Ancient Egyptians

We have thoroughly enjoyed our topic Ancient Egyptians topic this half term and this week decided to explore how they preserved bodies of the dead. We learnt that organs were removed and stored in canopic jars, the brain, which was not considered important, was removed through the nose before the bodies were wrapped in bandages and then placed in a wooden coffin.

We decided to attempt to mummify our own ‘apple person’ by placing him in a mixture of salt and bicarbonate of soda- we will have a look at what changes have taken place next week.
